Wayang golek puppets
These are some of the three dimensional puppets used for the wayang golek shows. This is a west Javanese variety of the traditional puppet plays and use the same characters and stories as the wayang kulit (two dimensional puppets). These figures are made of wood, have really detailed clothing and some even have actual hair on their heads! They are not held behind a screen, but rather the puppeteer uses them on top of a low table, and the audience looks on directly.
